Weekend Pill to Treat Erectile Dysfunction

Tadalafil pharmacological distinction is its longer half-life (17.50 hours) - resulting in a longer duration of action, and so is partly responsible for Weekend Pill sobriquet. Penile erection during sexual stimulation is caused by increased penile blood flow resulting from the relaxation of penile arteries and the smooth muscle of the corpus cavernosum. This response is mediated by the release of nitric oxide (NO) from the nerve terminals and the endothelial cells, which stimulate synthesis of cGMP in the smooth muscle cells. Cyclic GMP relaxes smooth muscle and increases blood flow to the corpus cavernosum. Use of Cialis Tadalafil does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases.

Cialis is used to treat erectile dysfunction. It works by helping to increase blood flow into the penis during sexual stimulation. This helps you to achieve and maintain an erection. Precautions to be taken while taking Tadalafil are:

o Cialis Tadalafil is to be taken by mouth with a full glass of water, with or without food as directed by your doctor. o Cialis Tadalafil must be taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity; or use as directed by your doctor as the effect may last up to 36 hours. o Cialis Tadalafil is not to be taken more than once daily as needed. You may attempt sexual activity at any time between your doses. o Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while being treated with Cialis Tadalafil. Grapefruit juice can increase the amount of certain medications in your bloodstream. o Cialis is to be avoided if using a nitrate drug for chest pain or heart problems.

Before taking Cialis Tadalafil, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have:

o Heart disease or heart rhythm problems o A recent history a heart attack (within the past 90 days) o A recent history of stroke or congestive heart failure (within the past 6 months) o Angina (chest pain) o High or low blood pressure o Liver disease o Kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis) o A blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia o A bleeding disorder such as hemophilia o A stomach ulcer o Retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye) o A physical deformity of the penis (such as Peyronie disease); or o If you have been told you should not have sexual intercourse for health reasons

Tadalafil is available with a prescription under the brand name Cialis. Cialis is available in 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg doses. Take Cialis exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take it in larger doses or for longer than recommended by your doctor. Taking this medication in larger doses will not make it more effective, and could cause dangerous side effects.

Stop using Cialis and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

o Hives o Difficulty breathing o Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat o Dizziness or nausea during sexual activity o Pain, numbness, or tingling in your chest, arms, neck, or jaw o Sudden vision loss o Ringing in your ears, or sudden hearing loss o Chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling o Irregular heartbeat o Swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet o Seizure (convulsions) o Feeling light-headed, fainting; or o Painful penis erection that lasts 4 hours or longer

Less serious side effects may include:

o Warmth or redness in your face, neck, or chest o Stuffy nose, sore throat o Headache o Diarrhea, upset stomach; or o Increased muscle pain, back pain
